The Kelly Ventura Collection
We are so honored to be able to collaborate with fine artist Kelly Ventura on this beautiful collection. I have long been a fan of Kelly's colorful work, so it was an absolute dream to have her create two custom watercolor prints we would then turn into Wunderkin Co. bows for the adventurous free spirit.
This collection features a floral watercolor print, a blotted dot watercolor print, and classic cobalt in a variety of our classic Wunderkin Co. bow styles.
We had the opportunity to speak Kelly about the collection and motherhood to give you a behind the scenes look at how this collection came together.
What Inspired the Collection?
I would have to say hillside adventuring, an Icelandic palette, woodsy wildflowers and cool waters.
What is Your Favorite Bow in the Collection?
All boys over here, but I am particularly drawn to the classic look that Wunderkin Co markets so beautifully. Well-crafted clothing that is suitable for play and exploring. The muted solids will always have a place in my heart, and that really allow these bow to shine.
"Playful. Gestural. Unexpected"
What are a few essential pieces in your kids' wardrobe?
I have three boys and they are stuck in an "neon athletic-wear" phase, which is painful for this mama. My newest niece will be arriving in just a few short weeks and I've already stocked up on a few favorites from Briar Handmade, Childhoods Clothing & Mon Petit. She will be well-dressed and oh-so loved.
What are some adventures you love to take your boys on?
We love to bike, walk and ski as a family. Some of my fondest childhood memories are climbing trees with my sisters. I am really looking forward to watching my boys find their favorite adventures in the years to come.
What is your favorite part about motherhood?
I have three young boys and their personalities are all so very different. It has been pretty amazing to watch each of them grow into their own and see how they have bonded with one another. I come from a family of four girls, so raising three boys is most definitely an adventure for me, one that I wouldn't trade for the world.
What are some of your favorite Instagram accounts to follow?
@ellenmariebennett - Love her "go get em" entrepreneurial spirit.
@em_henderson - Styling genius & funny personality.
@oldjoy - Honest glimpses of childhood & home.
@karinabania - Amazing California painter.
What projects or adventures are you looking forward to this year?
I would love to see how the year unfolds in terms of new collaborations. It's such an adventure to be able to do what I love everyday and share it with the world on a range of products. This year, I will be traveling overseas to Abu Dhabi. I can't wait to see how that inspires my work later this year!
Do you have an ideal color palette in which you like to work?
I normally use a lot of pink in my work. Opera Rose by Winsor & Newton is my go to pigment choice. I also have a great love for Cobalt and a good Mustard|Chartreuse in my palette. Maybe we need a pink collection next! ;)

We've mashed up 1910 Edwardian Style (think Samantha, American Girl) with a whimsical Texas, bigger-is-beter bow style! The mini pinwheel is a go-to every day style while the large version is for those that want to make a statement. We think these are adorable as they come, and are a more casual style we're happy to offer our free spirited kids!
